FAIR TRADE VALUES

What is Fair Trade?

Fair Trade is about providing better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers around the world, especially in lower-income countries. At Galleria Texana, we support fair trade principles by ensuring that our exporting vendors—artists, collectors, and estate brokers—are paid sustainable prices for their goods.

By addressing the inequalities of traditional trade, which often discriminates against producers in low-income countries, Fair Trade empowers individuals to improve their financial standing and gain more control over their lives. For more information on Fair Trade, visit the Fair Trade website.

Our Pricing Policies

At Galleria Texana, we strive to set competitive and fair prices for all items listed in our auctions. Vendors are responsible for setting the minimum bid price on each lot. This minimum bid price reflects the vendor’s lowest competitive value, particularly for items sold in the United States.

We encourage all vendors to consider global market prices and fair trade values when establishing their minimum bids. This ensures that all items are sold at a value that benefits both the buyer and the seller.

Duty Tax Rates in the United States

When purchasing items from international vendors, buyers may be subject to duty taxes. In the United States, duty tax rates can vary widely—from 0% to 37.5%—depending on the type of item being imported. The average duty rate in the U.S. is around 5.63%.

For more detailed information on duty tax rates and how they apply to your purchases, you can refer to U.S. Duty Tax Information.

Duty Tax on Foreign Purchases (Mexico)

For buyers purchasing items from Mexican vendors, duty taxes also apply. Mexico’s standard duty tax rate is 16%, with some items exempt from duty when sold to the United States or Canada. The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) governs these trade agreements and ensures favorable conditions for cross-border sales.

Our Exporting Vendors

At Galleria Texana, we are proud to work with a global network of artists, collectors, and estate brokers. These vendors are noted by country, allowing buyers to explore pieces from around the world. Each vendor sets their own minimum bid price, ensuring that they receive a fair and sustainable return for their items.
